The Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) will be conducting a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, Jan. 15 between the hours of 8pm and 2am. The checkpoint will be located in the westbound lanes of Willow Street at Signal Parkway.
The goal of the checkpoint is to make the streets of Signal Hill safer for residents and visitors by educating drivers of the hazards of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and to remove them from the roadways. The SHPD will also be conducting a check for unlicensed drivers, and individuals found to be operating their vehicles without a valid driver’s license may be issued a citation and have their vehicle impounded.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a traffic safety grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
