The Signal Hill Police Department (SHPD) will be conducting a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, March 19 between the hours of 8pm and 2am. The checkpoint will be located in the southbound lanes of Cherry Avenue at 27th Street.
The goal of the checkpoint is to educate drivers of the hazards of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and to remove them from the roadway. They will also be conducting a check for unlicensed drivers. Individuals found to be operating their vehicles without a valid driver’s license may be issued a citation and have their vehicle impounded.  Â
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a traffic safety grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Â
