Signal Hill City Council approves three-year contract with Conservation Corps of Long Beach

Signal Hill City Council unanimously agreed on Tuesday to enter into a three-year contract with the Conservation Corps of Long Beach in order to provide support to the Public Works Department.

Under the $160,797.60 contract, the Conservation Corps of Long Beach will be responsible for cleaning bus stops, picking up trash weekly from Cherry Avenue and Willow Street and planting street trees.

The Conservation Corp of Long Beach was founded in 1987, and helps at-risk children gain work experience while providing career guidance. The nonprofit organization has worked with the City of Signal Hill on various projects since 2005, including refurbishing the Bixby Ridge Trail in 2018.

According to a presentation by the Public Works Department, city staff has been satisfied with the previous work of Conservation Corps members.
