The hunt for Ghostly Gus is on in Signal Hill

Signal Hill’s city-wide scavenger hunt has returned for October, and residents have three weeks left to track their Ghostly Gus sightings.

This year’s bingo card doubles as a map, prompting participants to visit local landmarks, find the friendly ghost and write the secret code he’s holding. Each bolded word on the grid is a clue to Gus’ location, such as Rossmoor Bakery, Discovery Well Park and City Hall.

Once you find Ghostly Gus, leave him in his location, but write down the code into your bingo card. Once you have codes for a diagonal, horizontal or vertical line, you can submit your bingo card for a prize. Special prizes are available for those who fill out the entire bingo card.

Submit your card by:

Residents and businesses can volunteer to host a ghost during October. Those interested in hosting should email the Signal Hill Parks, Recreation & Library Services Department at comservices@signalhill.org.

Print your grid at cityofsignalhill.org/civicalerts.aspx?AID=1117. Grids are due by Friday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. This contest is open to Signal Hill residents only.

  1. We are stuck. Missing 2 more Gus’s. Can’t locate one in Signal Hill Park nor Hilltop Park. Only found 1 neighbor, and the Carpet related clue doesn’t work for us since we work from 9am to 6pm. Any additional clues would be great.
