A 21-year-old female struck by gunfire died from her injuries Wednesday, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
The shooting took place in the alley between Orange and Lemon avenues, north of 21st Street. The victim has been identified as Alicia Faith Todd of Signal Hill.
LBPD officers were dispatched at approximately 1:13am to the 1100 block of E. 21st Street regarding a subject down in the alley.
When officers arrived, they found the victim had been struck by gunfire in the upper torso. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and determined the victim deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation determined that the calling party had heard gunshots around midnight but did not call the police until the female was found in the alley.
No suspect information is available at this time, and a motive for the shooting is unknown, according to officials.
