St. Mary’s Medical Center welcomes a new Chief

Andrew Burg was named Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Aug. 1, taking the vacant position left by Dr. Merrill Knopf, who resigned earlier this year.
Burg’s background consists of residency at the University of California at Irvine, where he received training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Along with being certified by the American Board of Pathology and the Anatomic and Clinical pathology, Burg is an assistant professor in the pathology department at the UCI College of Medicine and he is also an inspector with the Laboratory Accreditation Program and the College of American Pathologists.
Burg has worked for St. Mary’s since 1991 and is making plans to implement strategies for improving hospital technology as well as economically with the help of his staff.
