Streets to avoid next week as 2022 Grand Prix ramps up

The 2022 Acura Grand Prix is returning to Long Beach starting on Friday, April 8 and running until Sunday, April 10.

Certain streets in Downtown Long Beach will be subject to closures and traffic impacts starting Wednesday, April 6 through Monday, April 11. All streets will be reopened by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 11.

Here are some closures to look out for:

Wednesday, April 6, 4 a.m. to 3 p.m.

4 a.m. 

  • The side streets off Shoreline Drive and Seaside Way leading into the Racecourse will close.

7 a.m. 

  • Westbound Shoreline Drive will close.
  • Northbound Queensway Bridge off ramp will close.
  • Southbound Queensway Bridge on ramp from Shoreline Drive will close.
  • Aquarium Way, south of Shoreline Drive, will close.

3 p.m. 

  • Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Broadway to Ocean Boulevard will close.
  • Pine Avenue will remain open to traffic for visitors to the Hyatt Regency Long Beach (Hyatt), waterfront restaurants, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants.
  • Aquarium of the Pacific will only be accessible via Chestnut Place or Golden Shore Avenue after 3 p.m. on April 7. All vehicles must be out of the Aquarium parking structure by 5 p.m. on April 7.
  • Valet parking will be available for guests dining at waterfront restaurants. Parking is also available in Shoreline Village. All vehicles entering at Pine Avenue will exit to the east through the Marina Green parking lot and should follow the directional signage. 

Friday, April 8, 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

6 a.m. 

  • Access to the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and the Shoreline Marina from Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue will close.
  • Southbound Pine Avenue will close to all traffic.
  • Access to the south side of the track will be provided at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue and will only be available to Grand Prix passholders and boat owner permitees.
  • Interior streets of The Pike, north of Shoreline Drive, will close.

7 p.m. 

  • Pine Avenue will open for traffic to access the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants.
  • Valet parking will be available for guests dining at waterfront restaurants. Parking is also available in Shoreline Village. All vehicles entering at Pine Avenue will exit to the east through the Marina Green parking lot and should follow the directional signage.

9:30 p.m. 

  • The Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue entry access route will close.

Saturday, April 9, 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

6 a.m. 

  • Access to the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and the Shoreline Marina from Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue will close.
  • Southbound Pine Avenue will close to all traffic.
  • Access to the south side of the track will be provided at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue and will only be available to Grand Prix passholders and boat owner permitees.
  • Interior streets of The Pike, north of Shoreline Drive, will close.

7 p.m. 

  • Pine Avenue will open for traffic to access the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants.

9:30 p.m. 

  • The Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue entry access route will close.

Sunday, April 10, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

6 a.m.

  • Access to the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and the Shoreline Marina from Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue will close.
  • Southbound Pine Avenue will close to all traffic.
  • Access to the south side of the track will be provided at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue and will only be available to Grand Prix passholders and boat owner permitees.
  • Interior streets of The Pike, north of Shoreline Drive, will close.

7 p.m.

  • Pine Avenue will open for traffic to access the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants.
  • The Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue entry access route will close.
  • Valet parking will be available for guests dining at waterfront restaurants. Parking is also available in Shoreline Village. All vehicles entering at Pine Avenue will exit to the east through the Marina Green parking lot and should follow the directional signage.

Monday, April 11, 5 p.m.

5 p.m. Traffic flow will be restored to:

  • Both east and west bound Shoreline Drive
  • Northbound Queensway Bridge off ramp, southbound Queensway Bridge on ramp from Shoreline Drive
  • East and west bound Seaside Way
  • North and south bound Pine Avenue, including Pine Avenue Circle
  • North and south bound Shoreline Village Drive
  • All service roads and internal streets of The Pike facility.

All times are approximate and are subject to change.

Aquarium of the Pacific

The Aquarium of the Pacific will remain open to visitors during their normal operating hours. Beginning April 8, the Aquarium parking structure will not be accessible. Below is a list of parking advisories for visitors:

  • April 7 – 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Aquarium parking structure will be accessible via southbound 710 freeway at Shoreline Drive. After 3 p.m. it will be accessible via Chestnut Place or Golden Shore Avenue. All vehicles must be out of the Aquarium parking structure by 5 p.m. on April 7.
  • April 8 – Aquarium parking available at the Catalina Express parking structure located off Golden Shore Avenue. Free shuttles to the Aquarium provided.
  • April 9 and 10 – Aquarium parking available at the Queen Mary parking lot. Free shuttles to the Aquarium provided.
