On Saturday, Jan. 22, police said an arrest had been made in connection with the July 11, 2021 gang-related shooting death of a 37-year-old man in Long Beach.
Officers were sent to the 300 block of East 17th Street at about 9:15 p.m. that day regarding a report of shots fired, and found Bernardo Solorio suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7 p.m.
Detectives arrested Lajuan Deshaun King, 30, on Jan. 12 near his home in the 1000 block of East Seventh Street, after authorities collected evidence allegedly connected to the shooting death.
“The firearm used in the shooting was seized in an unrelated investigation, and detectives believe the firearm was used in additional shootings, which are under investigation,” police said. “Following the arrest, a search warrant was served at King’s residence to locate further evidence of the crime.”
Police believe the homicide was gang-related. They also believe that King followed Solorio on foot to an apartment complex on the night of the shooting, and opened fire before fleeing on foot toward Long Beach Boulevard.
King was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
LBPD homicide detectives urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 562-570-7244 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
