A suspect was arrested in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 13 in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Long Beach the day before, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
On Saturday, Feb. 12 personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to a report of a man on the ground, not moving and bleeding from the upper body. LBFD personnel declared the victim deceased at the scene.
LBPD officers arrived on scene at approximately 5:14 p.m. and found that the man had suffered from a single gunshot wound to the upper body.
Police said the victim has been identified as 22-year-old Christian Santillan of Long Beach.
LBPD said that homicide detectives responded to the scene and discovered a man driving a silver van was involved in the murder.
Police said that evidence found at the scene of the crime led detectives to identify 54-year-old Quinton Anderson as a suspect in the shooting.
Detectives worked through the night to locate Anderson, eventually locating a van registered to Anderson parked on the street in the 900 block of East 109th Street in Los Angeles.
At approximately 6:44 a.m. on Feb. 13, detectives arrested Anderson as he was leaving a nearby home.
Police said Anderson will be booked into the Long Beach City Jail on one count of murder and has been denied bail due to an outstanding parole violation.
Police said both the suspect and victim are believed to have been experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, but their connection and the motive for the shooting are still unknown.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration early this week.
