Suspect wanted for laundromat burglaries surrenders to police

On Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, the suspect wanted in connection with several laundry-room burglaries in Long Beach turned himself in to police, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
After allegedly seeing himself in the news, 35-year-old Felipe Felix of Long Beach, walked into the lobby of Long Beach Police Headquarters and surrendered, police said. He was booked for burglary and, at press time, was being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail. His case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office this week.
“We appreciate the coverage provided by the media in relation to this investigation, which ultimately led to the suspect’s apprehension,” states a press release from LBPD.
Police said Felix had removed coins from laundry-machine coin boxes and believe he was involved in multiple burglaries from November 2013 to January 2015.
In the most recent incident, which occurred on Jan. 3, around 9am in the 300 block of Gladys Avenue, he entered a multi-family residential laundry room and forced entry into a coin box in an attempt to remove the cash. In this instance, the box was empty, so he left empty-handed.
