The death of a 59-year-old man who may have been involved in an altercation last week in Long Beach has been ruled a homicide, and Monday police began seeking the public’s help for information about the killing.
According to police, Anthony Mercy of Long Beach was found dead in the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Police initially said his cause of death was classified as undetermined, pending a determination by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
On Saturday, the medical examiner reported to police that the death was a result of a homicide.
Investigators determined Mercy may have been involved in a dispute or altercation on Tuesday near 14th Street and Seaside Park.
