With less than a week left before Christmas, Ten Mile Brewing Company is hosting a Christmas Sip and Shop event on Saturday, Dec. 18.
For those behind on their shopping, the Signal Hill brewery will have over 18 vendors including dessert shop Chloe’s Delights, Niosha Skincare and tea and herb shop Tea Amo from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“It’s been a long time since everyone has been able to come together,” Ten Mile Brewing co-owner Emma Taylor said. “I think that a lot of the small businesses have been suffering throughout the pandemic, so giving a platform for anybody to come and have business is an opportunity that we are always excited to participate in.”
Long Beach BBQ pop-up Shady Grove—which is in the process of opening a restaurant on Fourth Street—will be on-site with Cajun barbeque offerings.
Belmont Shore bakery Colossus Bread will have various desserts including cookie boxes and hot chocolate for children. For those who want to preorder pastries for their holiday parties, the bakery will have Buche de Noe (Yule Log), among other holiday pastries.
The soundtrack to the event will be provided by Olivia Morreale’s band consisting of piano, bass and sax, bringing jazz Christmas tunes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Head brewer Jesse Sundstrom will make the rounds dressed as Santa Claus at 2 p.m. and again at 6 p.m.
“Everyone always jokes that he looks like Santa, so we’re going to have him come out as a little surprise,” Taylor said.
Tickets to take a photo with Santa are $2 each with proceeds going to the women and children’s shelter Lydia House, Taylor noted.
For Ten Mile enthusiasts, prints of their can labels—unique to the brewery—will be for sale for the first time, Taylor said, noting it’s a requested item.
The event will take place at Ten Mile’s Signal Hill location at 1136 E. Willow St.
“We love being able to host,” Taylor said, noting that the Ten Mile team is excited to bring Christmas cheer. “It’s our favorite time of the year.”
