Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell announced this week that he has received the endorsement of the Peace Officers Research Organization of California to become the next Los Angeles County sheriff.

Former 7th District Long Beach Councilmember Tonia Reyes-Uranga this week announced her run for the seat on the Water Replenishment District, Division 3, which was vacated by the passing of Lillian Kawasaki in 2013. The District has not had an election for the seat since Kawasaki’s passing, and the vacancy is currently filled by an appointment until the Nov. 4 election.
