Eric Gray, candidate for the Long Beach City Council’s 2nd District, announced on Jan. 4 that he earned the endorsement of the Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16, whose members include plumbers, steamfitters, sprinkler fitters and other pipe trades professionals from 14 unions across Southern California.Gray also announced on Jan. 5 that he earned the endorsement of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, Locals 416 and 433. Locals 416 and 433 represent more than 8,000 workers in the construction industry.

Vivian Malauulu, candidate for the Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees in Area 2, recently announced that she obtained the endorsement of local state Assemblymember Miguel Santiago for her campaign effort. Santiago is the former president of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees.

The Jeannine Pearce for Long Beach City Council Campaign announced last month that it received the formal endorsements of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey Horvath. Pearce is running for the Long Beach City Council’s 2nd District.

Democratic Congressmember Grace Meng of New York’s 6th Congressional District endorsed Nanette Barragán for Congress in California’s 44th District on Dec. 22. Meng joined a growing number of members of congress across the country who have endorsed Barragán’s campaign for Congress, including Representatives Lois Frankel (D-FL), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Ann McLane Kuster (D-NH), Linda Sánchez (D-CA) and Joaquin Castro (D-TX).

The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Local 1521, also known as the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild, endorsed Warren Furutani for State Senate in California’s 35th District on Dec. 22. The guild, which represents community college teachers in Los Angeles, joined a wide array of community college leaders in endorsing Furutani, including Los Angeles Community College Trustees Mike Eng, Mike Fong, Ernie Moreno and Nancy Pearlman. On Jan. 12, the Teamsters Joint Council 42, which represents nearly 200,000 retirees, announced its endorsement of candidate Furutani for California’s 35th district.
