The UPS Store located at 3553 Atlantic Ave., in conjunction with The UPS Store locations nationwide, is teaming up with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and Sony Pictures’ holiday movie, Arthur Christmas, to help deliver the gift of reading through a new book.
Throughout the holiday season, The UPS Store in the Bixby shopping center will sponsor a book drive to benefit Miller’s Children’s Hospital patients. Through Dec. 16, participants may drop off new books at The UPS Store’s in-center drop-off bin.
“During this time, we hope to deliver the magic of the holidays to children at Miller Children’s Hospital through the Toys for Tots Literacy Program,” said Anthony Wingfield, owner of The UPS Store in Long Beach. “This is our first year working with Miller Children’s Hospital, which makes this a very special book drive for us. We plan to continue this book drive every Christmas for years to come.”
The UPS Store will also sell donation cards to benefit the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. Every dollar donated helps purchase books for less fortunate children in the Long Beach area.
Additionally, through Dec. 31, customers can go to The UPS Store Facebook page to make a donation directly to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and learn more about the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. Other online components of the holiday campaign include games on ArthurChristmas.com: a gift-wrapping game that provides pack-and-ship tips by The UPS Store; and the Steve’s S1 Flight Simulator, which gives participants the chance to get a secret code to obtain bonus game time by checking in on foursquare at a participating The UPS Store location. Customers can also receive 20 percent off holiday printing when they check in on foursquare at a participating location.
The UPS Store will continue additional fundraising activities throughout the year, including a coin box program for customers to donate their spare change. One-hundred percent of donations go to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which will use the donations to purchase books for less fortunate children in the local community.
