Ring in the holidays at any of the festive events planned throughout Long Beach and Signal Hill in the coming week. Seasonal celebrations will include the annual Daisy Lane Parade, the inaugural SantaCon, caroling at a local brewery and a Chanukah celebration.
Residents looking to keep abreast of the local government’s projects can attend informational meetings about the Colorado Lagoon and Shoemaker Bridge on Saturday and Wednesday, respectively.
Those looking to get in touch with nature can take a workshop on native plants Friday evening, go bird watching Thursday morning or learn to weave hats from sustainable coconut leaves Thursday evening.

Intro to Native Plants: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Plantiitas (2011 E Fourth St.) will be hosting this workshop to educate attendees about native plants. Attendees will be able to sample food and drinks made from native plants. Tickets can be purchased for $25 each on Eventbrite.
Potter Parodies Burlesque: 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Harvelle’s (201 E Broadway) will be hosting a Harry Potter-themed burlesque performance starring a variety of dancers dressed as characters from the franchise. Attendees are also encouraged to come dressed as their favorite characters, and the person with the best costume will get a prize. This event is for those 21 and older. All Star Comedy: 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Those 21 and older are invited to watch stand up comedy performances at the Laugh Factory (151 S Pine Ave.). General admission tickets can be purchased for $25 each on Tixr.

Public Meeting: Noon to 2 p.m. The City of Long Beach will be giving an overview of the Shoemaker Bridge Replacement Project at the Jenny Oropeza Community Center (401 Golden Ave.). Attendees are welcome to bring their children. Light refreshments will be provided. Free.
Resource Fair & Toy Giveaway: Noon to 4 p.m. Centro Cha will host a community resource fair at Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.) including free food, holidays activities, games, music and free toys for children ages 12 and under on a first-come, first-served basis. Free COVID-19 and flu shots will also be provided. Free to attend.
Grand Opening: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Helicopter tour company and flight school Rogue Aviation (3355 E Spring St.) invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of its new location. Gift Wrapping: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can use free gift wrapping supplies available on a first-come, first served basis at the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 Hill St) in the Library Learning Center. Free.
Daisy Lane Parade: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Residents can watch a parade with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, gingerbread people, elves, snowmen and more at the annual Daisy Lane Christmas Parade. The parade route will begin on Daisy Avenue at West Burnett Street and travel south down the east side of Daisy Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway, where it will make its way around the median and back up the west side of Daisy Avenue, concluding near West Hill Street and Maine Avenue. Live Theater: 8 p.m. The Long Beach Playhouse (5021 E. Anaheim St.) will be performing “A Christmas Carol.” General admission tickets can be purchased for $35 each at the lbplayhouse.org/.

Second Sundays: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Space Time Collaborative (3312 Lime Ave.) will be hosting a pop-up market where various local vendors will be selling zines, art, clothing and more. There will also be a clothing swap where attendees are welcome to take what they need and leave what they can. Items will be raffled to raise funds for future events. Free to enter.
Toy Drive and Pop-up: Noon to 4 p.m. Local business Dainty Disco (5659 Atlantic Ave.) invites residents to a holiday pop-up featuring over 20 vendors, music, art, coffee and other drinks and the chance to donate a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to children in the area. This event is kid and pet-friendly. Free.
SantaCon: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association (BKBIA) is hosting its inaugural SantaCon event, where people can traverse up and down Atlantic Avenue and taste the various locally brewed beers, wines and special menu items from eateries, as well as deals from small businesses. The Big Red Bus will be available to take residents around the corridor. There is no set route, and residents can visit whatever shops they choose, with deals and items offered at most locations. SantaCon tickets are available on Eventbrite, and cost $30 for those who want beer and wine tasters, and $20 for a Santa’s Helper ticket, which includes food and treats for children or those who don’t want alcohol. Family Holiday Jazz Concert: 4.p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Duck Soup Trio will be playing the music of pianist Vince Guaraldi, including all of the songs from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and other memorable Guaraldi compositions. Holiday Open House: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can start the holiday season by visiting a Christmas-decorated Ranchos Los Cerritos (4600 Virginia Road) while sipping hot cider, speaking to costumed docents and visiting the current exhibit. Free, but advanced registration is required.

Spanish Story Time: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Families can listen to a story read aloud in Spanish at the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 Hill St.). Free.
Carols & Beer: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those 21 and older are invited to drink beer and sing carols together at Ten Mile Brewing (1136 E Willow St.). Pizza will be available to purchase. Free to enter.
Monday Night Karaoke: 8 p.m. to midnight. DiPiazza’s (5205 E Pacific Coast Hwy.) will be hosting a karaoke night. This event is appropriate for all ages. There will be a happy hour on alcoholic beverages for those 21 and over. No cover charge.

Art 4 Equality: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The opening reception of an art show organized by the Feminist Uprising at Black LBC (1800 E Broadway). The event will feature live music and a raffle. Free to enter.

Virtual Artist Talk: 11 a.m. to noon. During this virtual discussion hosted by the Museum of Latin American Art, chief curator Gabriela Urtiaga will speak with Chilean artist Patricia Dominguez about her work. Public Meeting: 5:30 p.m. The City of Long Beach will be hosting a virtual community meeting on Zoom to provide updates on the Colorado Lagoon expansion. The online meeting will cover significant project updates, including the current construction schedule, shoring installation, bridge construction and demolition work. Neighborhood Associations Holiday Mixer: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A dozen neighborhood associations from Long Beach will be having a seasonal get-together for residents at Secret Island (209 Pine Ave.). The event will include karaoke and a raffle. Free to attend.
Weaving Hats: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This workshop at Native Sol (2018 E 4th St.) will teach attendees how to weave hats from coconut leaves. Tickets can be purchased for $75 each on Eventbrite.
