There’s a long list of eclectic activities happening throughout Signal Hill and Long Beach this week, and everyone can find a reason to get out of the house and into their communities.
Cinephiles can enjoy two separate events at Long Beach Art Theatre, which pay homage to two of cinema’s most well-known filmmakers. Fans of the TV show “Survivor” can also meet up and enjoy a weekly watch party at Beachwood Brewing.
Local environmentalists can catch a screening of an original documentary at the Art Theatre on efforts to protect California’s coast, or enjoy Earth Day events at Rose Park on Sunday or at Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on Thursday.
Music lovers can enjoy a musical game of bingo at Beachwood Brewing or live jazz at Jug Band Coffee and Tea, both Tuesday evening. Artistically inclined residents can practice painting from reference at Rancho Los Cerritos, learn about linocut prints at Munzon Gallery and Place LB, or work on their personal projects alongside other creatives at Able ARTS Work.

DIY Craft Club: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Those 8 years and older can learn how to make upcycled bangle bracelets at the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 E. Hill St.). Free, but advanced registration is required by calling 562-989-7323.
David Lynch’s ‘Dune’: 11 p.m. As part of the Art Theatre of Long Beach’s tribute to recently deceased beloved filmmaker David Lynch, their late night showing this week is Lynch’s 1984 sci-fi film “Dune.” General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the door of the theater (2025 E. Fourth St.).

Saturday 4/12
Painting from Reference Intro: 10 a.m. to noon. Beginner artists can learn how to paint from reference from Hely Omar Gonzalez, one of the five artists featured at Ranchos Los Cerritos’ current exhibit “Untold Legacies: Rethinking the American Cowboy.” Attendees will learn from archival images in the serene setting of Ranchos Los Cerritos (4600 Virginia Road). Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online. Only 20 spaces are available.
Makers’ Jam: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. These creative hours will be filled with a variety of activities like button-making, album cover reimagining or whatever craft you’re currently working on, as crafters, tinkerers and creatives connect with one another at Able Arts Works (3841 Atlantic Ave.). An RSVP through Eventbrite is required to take part in all craft stations. Free.
Shrinkable Prints Workshop: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In this hands-on workshop, participants can learn how to apply linocut techniques on shrinkable plastic to create custom pins, earrings or keychains. Local artist Cesar Garcia will lead this workshop at Munzon Gallery (1730 E. Anaheim St., Unit A). Tickets are $45 and can be purchased through @Munzongallery on Instagram.
Easter Basket Giveaway: Noon. This Easter event organized by The Six will include Easter basket giveaways for kids 0-13, Easter bunny photos and age-grouped egg hunts at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (1950 Lemon Ave.). Free.
Soundtrack Listening Session + Film: 8 p.m. to midnight. This collaboration between Good Luck Vinyl and the Art Theatre of Long Beach will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut “The Virgin Suicides.” The night will begin with an 8 p.m. “Homecoming Dance” listening session of the film’s soundtrack and score at The Social List (2105 E. Fourth St.), complete with a disco ball and themed cocktails, then a viewing of the film at 10 p.m. at the theater (2025 E. Fourth St.). The listening session is free, and the film is $15 online or at the door.

Sunday 4/13
Spring Spectacular: Noon to 2 p.m. Children and families are invited to this event that will feature the Easter bunny, free photos, crafts, balloon twisters, face painters and more at the Long Beach Towne Center (7575 Carson Blvd.). Free.
Earth Day Event: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate Earth Day at Rose Park (2760 N. Studebaker Road), with music, entertainment, a butterfly enclosure and release, eco-friendly arts and crafts, native milkweed plants and more. Free.
Prisk Native Garden Open House: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This garden located on the grounds of Prisk Elementary School (2375 Fanwood Ave.), created 30 years ago and cultivated by Long Beach educators and children, is open to the public for the second time this year at this open house. Visitors can enjoy a tour of the garden’s wildlife. Free.
Easter Card Making: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Join artist Ana Karen for a hands-on card making workshop at Adelitas Revenge (4007 E. Fourth St.) where attendees can design heartfelt, intentional pieces of gratitude, renewal or simply recognition for those in their lives. This workshop is open to all skill levels and all materials will be provided. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased through Adelitas Revenge on Instagram.
‘To Save Our Coast’: 2 p.m. This screening at the Art Theatre of Long Beach (2025 E. Fourth St.) hosted by Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust will tell the story of how citizens came together to protect the California Coast from over-development and exploitation, leading to the Coastal Act. Tickets are $10 when purchased online, and free for students.

Monday 4/14
Printmaking Hours: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This beginner-friendly space invites all people to create what their heart desires, with all supplies provided by PLACE LB (2172 Pacific Ave.). This is a pay-what-you-can event, and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Book Club: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Care Culture Collab hosts this book club at Vine LB (2142 E. Fourth St.) every Monday evening. The current book is Octavia E. Butler’s “Parable of the Talents.” Free to attend.

Tuesday 4/15
LB Hiring Event: 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The city of Long Beach is hosting this event to help residents gain insights on the city’s hiring process and learn about career opportunities at 4811 Airport Plaza Drive, Suite 120. Free, but registration is required by calling 562-570-6202.
Music Bingo: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Every Tuesday at Beachwood Brewing (3630 Atlantic Ave.) is music bingo, where attendees can listen to a curated playlist, match the songs played onto their digital bingo card and win prizes. Free to play.
Live Jazz: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local coffee, tea and food shop Jug Band Coffee and Tea (2771 E. Broadway) hosts live jazz every Tuesday in their intimate, musically-themed cafe. Free.

Sidewalk Vendor Office Hours: 9 a.m. to noon. Sidewalk vendors can get one-on-one help from the Long Beach Health Department to ask questions about permit requirements and any other questions at this weekly open office hours at 2525 Grand Ave. Free.
Teen Video Game Social: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each month, teens in Signal Hill can take on a new video game together and try to conquer it over the course of two hours at the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 E. Hill St.). This month’s game is WWE2K25. Each participant will get 30 minutes of playing time, or can play until their life has ended. Game time is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Free.
Firmly Rooted Yoga: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This beginner-friendly grounding yoga at Adelitas Revenge (4007 E. Fourth St.) is designed to help you reconnect with your breath, body and earth beneath you. This event is designed for the Sapphic community, is body-positive and focused on creating a safe and affirming environment. Tickets can be purchased through the Adelitas Revenge Instagram page.
Survivor Watch Party: 8 p.m. Fans of the show “Survivor” can attend this weekly watch party with themed cocktails, prizes and a live watch of the new episode at Beachwood Brewing (3630 Atlantic Ave.). Free to attend.

Thursday 4/17
Veterans Job Fair: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Long Beach Workforce Innovation Network will host this job fair at 4811 Airport Plaza Drive for veterans and service members to connect with prospective employers and network. There will be a resume review bar, interview stations and resource booths featuring mental health, health care, housing and homelessness prevention connections for people. Online registration is required. Free.
Green Generation Showcase: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This Earth Month celebration at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden (1250 Bellflower Blvd.) offers environmental awareness by connecting the community with local organizations, mingling, music, snacks and a showcase of the Sustainability Project. Teen Career Info Event: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Teens interested in highly technical careers can learn about how to get into their desired industry at this Trades and Industrial Technology career opportunities event at Bret Harte Library (1595 Willow St.). Free.
