If it didn’t already feel like summer, this list of movies in parks and beaches, as well as Juneteenth and Pride celebrations will surely make some seasonal memories.
A number of Juneteenth celebrations will take place throughout Long Beach, celebrating the Black community, beginning with a festival featuring gospel, drum lines, local Black businesses and more at Rainbow Lagoon Park Saturday. Festivities continue with a concert at Shoreline Village and a mix of Motown music at 2ND & PCH, both on the 19th.
Pride events this week include the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Pride Night, featuring DJs, drinks, galleries and photo-ops on Friday night and a welcoming open mic night organized by the queer and trans community at El Dorado Library Tuesday night. Other ways to connect with the community this week include the kickoff of LA’s Independent Beer Fest at Shoreline Park, a cake picnic and swap at Sports Basement, a yoga session that benefits local immigrants or plenty of movies at parks and beaches.
