Spring has sprung, and there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the new season in Long Beach. Those looking for family-friendly Easter activities can enjoy a spring-themed night market on Friday and a festival and easter egg hunt on Saturday, both in downtown.
Residents can give back to their communities by volunteering in the Zaferia Heights Neighborhood for a clean-up Saturday morning and in West Long Beach’s garden workday Sunday morning. Additional community events include record listening parties on Friday and Saturday, a plant sale and fundraiser Saturday, a food club meetup Sunday and friend-making event Wednesday.
Resources this week include Birthworkers of Colors Collective’s new lactation support group, Our Generation Care’s new toy loan center, a low-cost pet vaccine clinic, the monthly Black Neighborhood Tenant Council meeting and free groceries throughout the week from Long Beach Community Table.

Friday 3/27
Lactation and Education Support Group: 10 a.m. to noon. Breastfeeding moms can receive support and learn from lactation professionals at this biweekly support group hosted by Birthworkers of Color Collective (1635 E. Anaheim St. Suite A). Visitors can either come in person or book a virtual appointment at birthworkersofcolor.com/lactation. Free.
Adult Enrichment Storytime: 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Adults with special needs and their caregivers are invited to an inclusive story time at Harte Neighborhood Library (1595 W. Willow St.). Free Groceries: Noon to 4 p.m. Residents can receive free groceries, hygiene essentials and clothing from Long Beach Community Table at their new location 151 W. Victoria St.
S.K.A.T.E.: 4 p.m. Skaters can compete in a game of S.K.A.T.E. at Pharmacy Boardshop (333 Pine Ave.) to win a mystery promo box or a year of free boards. Free.
Record Listening Party: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In celebration of Women’s History Month and Black women specifically, the Black Lives Matter Long Beach chapter holds this space each year to honor the life of Breonna Taylor and uplift Black women. This record listening party invites women to bring a record of their own by a woman artist and share a song while discovering something new, at 580 Pine Ave. A $5-10 donation is suggested.
Science Café with the Aquarium: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Teens are invited to a youth-led STEM program at Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.) in partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific. Participants will hear from a scientist about their research, receive an overview from teen presenters, take part in a hands-on activity or craft and enjoy complimentary snacks. Free.
Bunny Bash Night Market: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Families and community members are invited to a spring-themed night market at 456 Elm Ave. featuring local food vendors, small businesses and live entertainment. The event will include an Easter Bunny meet-and-greet at 6 p.m., along with photo opportunities, giveaways and activities for all ages. Free to attend.

Saturday 3/28
Plants-R-Us Extravaganza: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get your spring garden started with local grown, organic heirloom plants grown by Long Beach Organic and the Plants-R-Us Committee. This fundraiser at the Zaferia Junction Community Garden (3709 E. 10th St.) benefits Long Beach Organic and their mission to keep growing community gardens throughout the city. Plant prices vary, but entry is free.
Community Clean-Up: 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to help clean litter in the Zaferia Heights Neighborhood. Meet at 1435 Orizaba Ave. Free.
Fast Friends Run Club: 8:30 a.m. Everywhere LBC is debuting its new run club Fast Friends Run, with a 3-mile and 5-mile optional run beginning at 2122 E. Fourth St. followed by a party at Good Time (1322 Coronado Ave.). The post-run party will feature a DJ, raffled prizes, beer on draft, coffee and light bites to eat. There will be pre-run coffee and pastries at 7:45 a.m. Kids and dogs are welcome, and walking is optional. Free.
Artist Morning: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Art enthusiasts are invited to a relaxing morning at Rancho Los Alamitos (6400 E Bixby Hill Road) with early access to the historic grounds. Participants can bring their own art supplies such as watercolors, oils, sketchbooks or digital devices and create at their own pace. A pop-up coffee cart will be selling drinks and pastries. Attendees may optionally submit artwork inspired by the Rancho for potential inclusion on future museum store merchandise. Registration on Eventbrite is required. Free.
Spring Fest: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families are invited to celebrate spring at Lincoln Park near the Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway) with two age-separated Easter egg hunts and photos with the Easter Bunny. Attendees can also enjoy crafts, outdoor activities and resources throughout the park. This event is designed for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Free and open to the public.

Enjoy an Easter Bunny meet and greet from 4 to 6 p.m., DJ sets from 3 to 7 p.m., food and vendors. Easter eggs will be hidden throughout the outlets, with raffles held every other hour. The first 50 visitors to The Pike Market booth will receive goodie bags. Attendees of all ages, including friendly pets, are welcome. Free.
After Hours Comedy: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Comedy Jet presents a night of stand-up at Modica’s Deli (455 E. Ocean Blvd.) featuring Sean Grant, Jonesy, Brenda Pontiff and Felize Gee. Guests can enjoy food, wine and live comedy in a relaxed, social setting. There is a two-item minimum. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite for $24.52.

Running Sucks Running Club: 8 a.m. This club’s 3-mile run starts and ends at Sala Coffee and Wine (3853 Atlantic Ave.), followed by a live DJ, portraits by Still Musings and coffee, wine and food available for purchase. Free.
Live Pet Portraits: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local artist Scrap Labs will be at Dedo Coffee (2156 Pacific Ave.) drawing pet portraits for patrons for $25. Pet owners can either bring their pet in person or bring a photo of them.
Love Your Block Community Workday: 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are invited to a community workday along W. 25th Street between Baltic and Adriatic on the Westside of Long Beach. This youth-led initiative focuses on tree planting and neighborhood clean-up efforts to improve air quality and build community pride. Hosted by the Love Your Block program, the event encourages residents to support neighborhood revitalization projects. Teens, adults and older adults are welcome to participate. Sour and Fruity Bev Fest: Noon to 4 p.m. Long Beach Beer Lab invites the public to a tasting event celebrating tart and fruit-flavored beverages, including sour beers, fruited ales, kombuchas, juices and non-alcoholic options. Attendees can enjoy unlimited samples with a taster glass and explore offerings from local and specialty breweries, such as Beachwood Brewing, Shiner and Cellador Ales. Toy Loan Center Grand Opening: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Local nonprofit Our Generation Cares is opening a toy loan center at its headquarters (235 E. Broadway, eighth floor). Children will be able to borrow toys on a weekly basis and earn reward points for doing so. Free.
Record Listening Party: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. On the Corner, hosted by Twelves (746 E. Seventh St.), Good Luck Vinyl Club and Trish Toledo, invites music lovers to listen to selections of Chicano music and take part in a Q&A afterwards. Free.

Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Long Beach Animal Care Services (7700 E Spring St.) will be offering discounted vaccines and microchips for pets. Cats must be brought in carriers and dogs must be leashed. Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 60 pets. Treatment prices vary.
Choose Success: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Children’s Institute, Inc. (1500 Hughes Way) invites current and former foster and system-impacted youth, ages 14 to 27, to a workshop focused on time management strategies. Participants will explore habits and techniques that support personal goals and align with their vision for success. Westside Silver Series: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Westside Community Alliance will host an informational workshop for seniors at Harte Neighborhood Library (1595 W. Willow St.). This session will cover staying active and home safety tips. Spanish and Tagalog translators are available. This program is designed for adults 55 and older and their caregivers. Melt & Mix: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Kids can celebrate National Crayon Day with hands-on science at Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.). Participants will explore heat and state changes to create melted wax suncatchers, then mix colorful slime through chemistry experiments. This STEAM activity is designed for toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children. Free.
Leatherworking: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Teens and adults are invited to a hands-on workshop at Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway) to learn basic leatherworking techniques, including cutting, assembling and finishing. Participants will create a custom pocket notebook case that can also function as a wallet or passport holder. This month’s “Jolly Jester” craft offers a fun, creative activity for children of all ages, including babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age kids. STEM Mobile Makers: 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children in grades 3 to 5 are invited to a hands-on STEM workshop at Mark Twain Neighborhood Library (1401 E. Anaheim St.) led by educators from CSULB. Participants will design and build their own “scribblebot” while exploring science and engineering concepts through creative problem-solving. Indigenous Bead Workshop: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sacred Path Indigenous Wellness Center is hosting its first-ever beading for wellness workshop for indigenous youth ages 12-26 at 236 E. Doing Business with the City Expo: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The City of Long Beach will host this first-of-its-kind expo at Wardlow Park Social Hall (3457 Stanbridge Ave.). This event is designed to help businesses and nonprofits learn how to sell goods and services to the City, including opportunities connected to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Presentations will cover vendor registration, certification and City procurement processes. Attendees can meet City staff to discuss department-specific needs. Pacific Avenue Transformation Project Community Meeting: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Residents are invited to this meeting at the Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway) to learn about the proposed Pacific Avenue Transformation Project. Hosted by the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works, the meeting will provide information on planned improvements to enhance safety, mobility and accessibility for drivers, transit riders, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
