Don’t let June’s morning gloom get you down, instead, savor chances to explore the city, learn something new, embrace community spirit, and dare I say, have fun while doing it.

Fans of tattoos, beers or burgers can find something to enjoy Saturday during Pints & Needles, a free collaboration from ISM Brewing and The Raven and Wolves downtown. Then on Wednesday, those who lace up their sneakers for the Mural Run can hear the stories behind the eye-popping artwork being made for this year’s Long Beach Walls festival.

The importance of pride will be on full display during Splash, Share and Be Counted on Saturday, an event aimed at uplifting disabled voices. The following afternoon, Play Nice’s Storybooth Pop-Up: Queer Elders and Histories will center stories of queer elders.

This week is also a good one for fans of music and movies, with Saturday’s Hi-Fi Listening Market at Dedo Coffee, Davey B Gravey’s Tiny Cinema on Friday at Kubo LB and Tuesday’s 30th anniversary screening of “Trainspotting” at the Art Theatre of Long Beach.
