Long Beach is buzzing with opportunities to explore, learn and connect with your community this coming week.
Those looking to either practice or watch the art of dance can join a salsa lesson and social dancing session at 2ND & PCH or watch the World Ballet Company perform at the Long Beach Terrace Theater.
Young children will have the opportunity to explore different cultures during two storytimes held at local libraries. A Khmer Storytime at Signal Hill Public Library will introduce young children to the language and culture of the Cambodian people, while a special storytime in honor of Native American Heritage Month at Bach Neighborhood Library will introduce preschoolers to stories, and songs that honor Indigenous traditions.

Teen & Tween Movie Hangout: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tweens and teens are invited to the Burnett Neighborhood Library (560 E. Hill St.) for a screening of the animated film “The Millers vs. The Machines.” Snacks will be provided while supplies last. Free.
LBC Eats: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visit this monthly culinary event in downtown Long Beach (300 The Promenade North), featuring a celebration of local food, drinks and live music. Enjoy a variety of food trucks, pop-up vendors, craft beer and specialty drinks. This event is open to all ages. Free parking is available next to the venue. Free admission.

Saturday 11/15
Urban Forestry Walk & Talk: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join certified arborist Ben Fisher at Drake Park (951 Main Ave.) for an educational guided walk exploring the city’s diverse trees, their care and the importance of urban forests in creating cooler, more connected neighborhoods. Mindful Moments: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Take a break and relax with gentle breathing, stretching and calming activities for all ages at the Burnett Neighborhood Library (560 E. Hill St.). Free.
Long Beach Bookshop Crawl: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join fellow book lovers and support local book stores at this bookshop crawl, beginning at Page Against the Machine, going down along Fourth Street to Kitchen Lingo Books and Bel Canto Book and ending at Casita Bookstore. Free.
Khmer Storytime: 11 a.m. to noon. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring children to the Signal Hill Public Library (1800 E Hill St.) to enjoy Khmer stories, music and movements led by local business Khemara Kids. This event is appropriate for kids of all ages, but especially aimed at children between 1 and 5 years old. Free.
Bibliotherapy Tea: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Adults over the age of 18 are invited to decompress at the Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway). The program offers a calming space for journal writing, reading, reflection and a calming cup of tea. Free.

Sunday 11/16
Family Artmaking Workshop: 11 a.m. The Long Beach Museum of Art (2300 E. Ocean Blvd.) invites families to participate in a hands-on art workshop on the third Sunday of each month. Activities are inspired by current exhibitions and are designed for all ages and skill levels. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free.
Biggest Little Zine Fair: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This zine fair returns to Recreational Coffee (237 Long Beach Blvd., Suite A) with dozens of vendors and more than 200 zines. Visitors can also browse handmade works and meet artists. Nothing will be priced over $30. Free admission.
World Ballet Company: 6 p.m. This performance at the Long Beach Terrace Theater (300 E. Ocean Blvd.) will feature 40 international dancers, more than 150 hand-painted costumes and stunning sets that bring the classic Cinderella fairy tale to life. This event is appropriate for everyone over the age of 2. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets start at $68 on Ticketmaster.

Monday 11/17
Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Long Beach Animal Care Services (7700 E Spring St.) will be offering discounted vaccines and microchips for pets. Cats must be brought in carriers and dogs must be leashed. Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 60 pets. Treatment prices vary.
Neighborhood Micro Grant Program Application Workshop: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Learn how to apply for up to $5,000 in City funding through the 2026 Neighborhood Micro Grant Program during this workshop at the School for Adults cafeteria (171 W. Bort St.). The microgrant program supports Long Beach neighborhood associations and violence prevention organizations that are planning community events or neighborhood improvement projects. Tuesday 11/18
Beach Cleanup: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are invited to join Ocean Conservancy, the USA Artistic Swimming National Team, and the U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Association in cleaning litter on Alamitos Beach (380 E. Shoreline Drive). Participants will help remove debris to protect marine life and keep local coastlines clean. Light refreshments and supplies will be provided. Adult Book Club: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Join fellow readers at the Brewitt Neighborhood Library (4036 E. Anaheim St.) for this month’s discussion of “Our Missing Hearts” by Celeste Ng, a powerful novel exploring love and resilience in a divided society. Copies are available at the library for checkout. Salsa Dancing: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visit 2ND & PCH (6400 Pacific Coast Hwy) for an evening of salsa dancing. The night begins with a salsa lesson from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with instructors Peter Araiza and Jenny Mee, followed by social dancing from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. This monthly event welcomes dancers of all levels — no partner is needed. Artist of the Month: 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Los Altos Neighborhood Library (5614 E. Britton Drive) invites children ages 6 to 12 to a painting session inspired by poet, essayist and artist Etel Adnan. All materials will be provided. Free.
LB Fire Department Recruitment Webinar: 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Long Beach Fire Department will host an online recruitment webinar covering preparation for the Physical Ability Test (P.A.T.), station visits and interview techniques. The session will include guest speakers, exam prep tips and career guidance for those interested in joining the fire service. Registration through the City’s online event calendar is required. Comedy Show: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Those 18 and older are invited to the Long Beach Beer Lab (4000 E. Native American Heritage Preschool Storytime: 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Celebrate Native American Heritage Month at the Bach Neighborhood Library (4055 N. Bellflower Blvd.) with a special story time for preschoolers. Children ages 3 to 5 will explore stories, songs and sensory activities that encourage learning and creativity through play. Free.
CD5 Community Information Meeting: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. District 5 Councilwoman Megan Kerr invites the public to a community meeting at Wardlow Park Community Center (3457 Stanbridge Ave.). Acting Parks, Recreation and Marine Director Stephen Scott will share updates on the department’s responsibilities and programs. RSVP is encouraged but not required.
