Once again the hilltop area of Signal Hill sports a bright and shiny lighted Christmas tree silhouette. The actual tree-lighting ceremony took place this past Wednesday evening with Signal Hill Mayor Larry Forester and Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster at the switch. The annual event was such a festive throwback to simpler times, complete with carolers (the Wilson High School Choir, under the direction of Curtis Heard), hot chocolate, cider, cookies, cupcakes (generously donated by Rossmoor Pastries), and, of course, photos with Santa (who arrived by firetruck).
With the tree in Signal Hill now lit, I look forward to the Bixby Knolls tree- and menorah-lighting tonight at Nino’s Ristorante at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Steve and I plan to be there for the festivities, have a little dinner and then finish up our holiday shopping. Looking forward to seeing you all!
