I can’t believe it is nearly Veterans Day again. Last year we ran a beautiful section as a tribute to Veterans Day. I think it was one of the nicest projects we have ever created at the Signal Tribune. On November 6 we will produce another tribute to Veterans Day— this time as part of the paper and not as a separate section. Last year’s product featured many ads from local businesses and politicians. This year we want to do something extra special to allow individuals to honor their loved ones by listing the person’s name, rank and military branch on a “brick wall” to be printed within the pages of that issue.
It matters not if the person has served in the distant past or is currently serving our country. We will be honoring the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines throughout that particular issue and encourage you to pay tribute to your military hero. To participate, just fill out the form on page 10 of this week’s issue and send it in with your check for $10 for each name. Feel free to honor as many folks as you’d like.
My late father, Alfred Posner, served in the Marine Corps in the mid 1920s. He was so proud to be a Marine. I also have twin relatives (a step-great nephew and step-great niece) Blake Tindall and Ashley Diaz, currently serving in the Marines. Old, young, active or retired, all our military personnel deserve to be honored.
Also, if you have a little blurb you’d like to share about your time in the service please send it to us at Signal Tribune 2669 Myrtle Avenue #111, Signal Hill, CA 90755— or email newspaper@signaltribune.com. Please don’t send more than 100 words, but do email a photo if you’d like us to use one.
