Time is passing quickly for those who still want to enter our Sweetheart Sweepstakes. Going from business to business can be a grand experience as you visit new places or have the opportunity to rediscover old favorites. Don’t forget to shop for your valentine while you’re out and about. We have great bargains and unique gifts right here in our own neighborhoods, and some pretty terrific restaurants too!
I think we did a great job gathering prizes this year, and we are especially happy to have Embassy Suites Mandalay Hotel & Resort as our grand prize sponsor two years in a row. Although their website (mandalaybeach.embassysuites.com) presents a lovely picture and story of the property, I can tell you from first-hand experience that the resort is nothing short of top notch.
Years ago, Steve and I had the opportunity to stay at the hotel as part of a package with a police bowling tournament he was involved with. Along with several of his co-workers from the Long Beach Police Department, we practically took over the place. Besides our beautiful suite of rooms, we thoroughly enjoyed the beachfront property— so did Steve’s son Jeff and his friend Brent. Both teenagers at the time, their thirst for surfing was quickly quenched as they hit the waves early each morning of our stay and only showed their faces for meals or sleep. That trip was one of the nicest I can remember. Adding to our pleasure was the included cooked-to-order breakfast each morning. I must say the poolside cocktails were a plus as well. Ahhh— memories.
Thinking about treating your loved one to a little trip away from home for Valentine’s Day weekend? According to their marketing department, the Embassy Suites Mandalay Hotel & Resort’s 2010 Valentine’s Package includes: accommodations in a deluxe suite; a chilled bottle of champagne or wine with signature glasses and chocolates; dinner for two at Capistrano’s Restaurant ($100 value); turndown service topped with a fresh rose and scattered rose petals; choice of beverages at the Evening Manager’s Reception; cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, self-parking and high-speed Internet access. One-night accommodations are from $349 per night, and two-night accommodations are from $538 ($269 per night).
