Pets are such a joy for so many of us, but, with this economic climate, it’s tough to keep up with all the necessary requirements of being a responsible pet owner. We all know how important it is to keep dogs on leashes and cats indoors, and spaying and/or neutering our dogs and cats is a must, but we should also remember to keep our four-footed friends up to date on their shots and licenses as well.
Fortunately, local dog and cat lovers can save a few dollars this month (only $6 for rabies shots— wow!) when they attend low-cost pet clinics. Take a look at the press release below for details, including dates, times and places.

It just got a lot easier (and cheaper) to vaccinate and license Long Beach cats and dogs. This month, Animal Care Services will host two low-cost pet vaccination and licensing clinics for residents at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Community Center, 1950 Lemon Ave. Reservations are not needed, and all services much be paid for in cash.
Low-cost pet clinics for September will take place:
Saturday, Sept. 11 (10am to 1pm)
Wednesday, Sept. 15 (5pm to 7:30pm)

A state-licensed  veterinarian  from  the  Southern California Veterinary Vaccine  Clinic  (SCVVC) will be onsite to provide the shots, and residents can  process  their  license renewals onsite. Visit scvvc.webs.com for a full listing of prices.

Services available include:
•Â  Dog/Rabies $6
•Â  Cat/Rabies $6 (or if preferred, “Purevax” Rabies for $20)
•Â  DHPP (DA2PP) $15 (dogs)
•Â  Bordetella $12 (dogs)
•Â  Lyme $22 (dogs)
•Â  FVRCP $15 (cats)
•Â  FELV $17 (cats)
•Â  AVID Microchips $28 (cats and dogs)
•Â  Altered Dog License $20 (half price for seniors)
•Â  Unaltered Dog License $90
•Â  Altered Cat License Free

Also, low-cost pet clinics are scheduled for the second Saturday and third Wednesday of every month at the Long Beach at Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St., to provide residents with a one-stop shop for vaccination, microchipping and licensing services. More information about upcoming pet clinics is available online at longbeach.gov
Animal Care Services is open to the public Wednesday through Friday, from 10am to 5:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. It is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and all holidays. For more details contact animalcare@longbeach.gov or (562) 570-PETS (7387), or visit longbeach.gov/acs.
