In my opinion, to those of you who choose to make resolutions, do make those goals attainable, instead of putting pressure on yourself that causes stress and ends up impossible to accomplish. Be kind to yourself, and try to make tiny changes that, over time, will make big differences.
Looking to find information on resolutions offered by those we may hold in high esteem, I searched the Internet and found the following words attributed to famous people at quotations.about.com:
For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
and next year’s words await another voice,
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
— T.S. Eliot
You must leave your many millions,
And the gay and festive crowd;
Though you roll in royal billions,
There’s no pocket in a shroud.
— John Alexander Joyce
He who loves, flies, runs, and rejoices;
he is free and nothing holds him back.
— Henri Matisse
Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average… which means, you have met your New Year’s resolution.
— Jay Leno
I know. I’m lazy. But I made myself a New Year’s resolution that I would write myself something really special. Which means I have ’til December, right?
— Catherine O’Hara
The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.
— Thomas Jefferson
I shall stick to my resolution of writing always what I think no matter whom it offends.
— Julia Ward Howe
I leave you with the following: Happy new year to all of our readers and advertisers. The staff at the Signal Tribune wishes you all a beautiful 2017, blessed with health, happiness and an increased love and respect for your fellow man.
