Print is Alive, and that’s the Truth
Newspaper work is never done—
We sometimes work from moon to sun.
The joy one gets from printing word
Is knowing news is always heard.
While we toil hard to offer truth,
Our readers go to voting booth.
Endorsements we have never done,
A practice we will always shun.
We much prefer our readers know
They can rely on what we show.
Our letters come from mail, online,
and always tell what’s on their mind.
Agree with messages we sometimes do,
But never will you see us spew.
Our own opinions are kept in check.
You can bet, we don’t stack the deck.
I sometimes talk about my past
Or happenings that came at last.
Like restaurants, new to our ‘hood,
Sure hoping food will taste real good.
Or streets blocked off, why, how and where.
Where shall we drive, and do we dare?
We toil away to keep apprised
Our readers minds, and do surprise.
In Signal Hill— and Long Beach, too—
We keep informed, we really do.
Thinking’s what we want to inspire,
Whether politics or power higher.
Some say that print is losing favor
I disagree, and say to savor
Our local news and stories here
We work for you, our readers dear.
