We wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mommies, mommies-to-be, grandmas, aunts, godmothers and any others who should be honored this Sunday. Steve and I will spend the day pampering my mommy with brunch, a present or two, and maybe even a few surprises.
Those of you who either have a knack with a camera or already have a favorite shot of a mother in your life should enter the Picture Your Mother contest sponsored by Tuttle Cameras and Signal Tribune. Bring in, mail in, or email us your favorite photo of “Mom” with a 100-word caption telling us why your mom should be selected. The prizes are: first place, a Nikon S10 digital camera; second place, a 5X7 photo album frame with bath/beauty kit; third place, an 8X7 photo puzzle with pampering lotions. Deadline is May 12. Mail entries to: Signal Tribune Newspaper, 2669 Myrtle Avenue #111, Signal Hill, CA 90755. Good luck. Winners will be announced in next week’s paper.
Speaking of Tuttle Cameras, we have some exciting news about their special ONE Project, which has been, and continues to be, an exciting event that follows one camera through one city with 52 different perspectives as each week a new photographer captured Long Beach through the lens of the same camera. The project is finished, and all who participated are anxiously awaiting the opening reception at the Historical Society of Long Beach on June 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each photographer’s favorite image will be displayed in the gallery at the Society, 4260 Atlantic Avenue from June 6 through August 6.
To help make the event even more memorable and tangible, The ONE Project book One Long Beach is nearly completed—thanks to the talent and creativity of our very own Shannon Clayton, who, along with Eric Vitwar of Tuttle, has created a masterpiece that does the ONE Project’s participants proud. For those who would like a memento of the project, this 8 x 10 hardcover book is a must. All of the featured images, titles and locations featured in the gallery will be published in the book with a photo of each photographer. This unique and captivating glimpse of Long Beach through the eyes of the photographers will make a great book to share with guests or a thoughtful gift for those who love Long Beach. The books are on presale for $45 at Tuttle Cameras, 4019 Atlantic Avenue until May 15. Tuttle’s phone number is (562) 424-4706. A limited number of copies will be available at the opening and through Tuttle Cameras after the event. Order yours now!
