Three people, including a possible murder suspect, were taken into custody in Long Beach today following a short pursuit.
Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing the suspects in a lifted pickup truck on the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near the Artesia (91) Freeway in the Lakewood area about 2:15 p.m.
Reports from the scene indicated that one of the people in the vehicle was a murder suspect, although no other details were immediately available.
The pickup driver turned onto the eastbound Century (105) Freeway and briefly drove against oncoming traffic. The driver then exited onto surface streets but quickly got back on the southbound 605 Freeway.
The motorist again exited the freeway and came to a stop in the area of Carson Street and Long Beach Towne Center about 2:30 p.m. The three suspects exited the vehicle, surrendered to sheriff’s deputies and were taken into custody without further incident.
