The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Long Beach City College will host a “Homeless Veterans Stand Down” event to provide numerous health and social services for homeless veterans and dependents. The free event will be Saturday, March 4 from 8am to 6pm and Sunday, March 5 from 8am to 4pm at LBCC Veterans Stadium parking lot, 4901 E. Conant St.
Services include educational benefits assistance, employment assistance, housing assistance, legal assistance, workshops, medical and vision exams, mental health counseling, chiropractic/acupuncture, message therapy, clothing and hygiene kits, showers and haircuts, hot meals and Social Security benefits.
The event is open to all homeless veterans and their dependents.
“Long Beach City College is proud to support our veterans and give back in a meaningful way to those who have served our country,” said LBCC Acting Superintendent-President Ann-Marie Gabel. “Our Veterans Service Office provides ongoing support to our student veterans, and we are happy to be able to extend services to the homeless veterans in the greater community at this event.”
Pre-registration is open now. An I.D., DD214 or Social Security number is required to access services.
