Two fireworks shows in Long Beach celebrating Fourth of July

Long Beach residents are invited to enjoy two pyrotechnic events in honor of Independence Day this year.

Big Bang on the Bay

On Sunday, July 3, beginning at 9 p.m., fireworks will light up the skies over the Peninsula and Naples, as well as restaurants along the Alamitos Bay Marina. The show will last for 30 minutes.

The Big Bang on the Bay is hosted by the Boathouse on the Bay, which will hold a block party from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 3. The party will be catered by Naples Rib Company, which will serve a buffet-style dinner outdoors. Tickets are available online, with proceeds going to charity.

Fourth of July Fireworks at the Waterfront

On Monday, July 4, fireworks will be launched from the event park at Queensway Bay for an Independence Day celebration sponsored by Visit Long Beach, the City of Long Beach, the Port of Long Beach and Harbor Breeze Cruises.

The free show can be seen all along the waterfront, with prime viewing points at Lions Lighthouse for Sight, Shoreline Village, Rainbow Harbor and Marina Green. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

“We are proud to be able to provide Long Beach residents and our greater region a fun, safe way to celebrate July 4 with our amazing annual firework show,” Mayor Robert Garcia said in a statement. “We encourage folks to come early to enjoy our restaurants, shops, and waterside green spaces before the show begins.”

Parking is available at various paid lots, including at the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Pike Outlets, the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center and others.

The purchase, sale and use of fireworks outside permitted events is illegal in both Long Beach and Signal Hill, even those deemed “safe and sane.” Both cities have implemented fines for violations, some reaching up to $80,000 for multiple offenses.
