Two men were shot, one fatally, in a gang-related attack in Long Beach, and the suspect was being sought today.
The shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of an apartment complex near Ackerman Avenue and South Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Kenneth Cornett, 27, of Bell Gardens died at the scene, police said. The second man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound that was not believed life-threatening, police said. His name was not released.
According to police, the men were with two other people at the location when a dark-colored sedan approached and someone inside it opened fire, unprovoked, before fleeing the area in the vehicle.
The vehicle was last seen heading northbound toward South Street.
The crime was being investigated as gang-related, police said.
