Two spca events to focus on shelter dogs, vaccinations

spcaLA has two upcoming events scheduled to help pet owners care for their animals: a Canine Welfare and Rehabilitation course, and a Low-cost Vaccination and Microchip Clinic.
The Canine Welfare and Rehabilitation course, billed as “a must course for anyone working with shelter and rescue dogs,” has been run as an in-house teaching course by most of the leading animal charities in the United Kingdom and the United States, and it covers dog behavior as applied to adoption centers, rescues and re-homes. The course focuses on rehabilitation of problem dogs and will involve hands-on work with dogs (as time permits) during the course. It will be conducted by world-renowned dog trainer and behaviorist John Rogerson on: Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center, 7700 East Spring Street. Tickets are $415 per person. For more information or to register, visit http://spcala.com and click on “Animal Training.”

spcaLA will also host a Vaccination and Microchip Clinic on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Specialty Spay Neuter Center, 5026 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Los Angeles. Vaccinations keep pets happy and healthy, plus, most areas require rabies vaccinations for dogs. Having pets micro-chipped provides an extra layer of protection should the unthinkable happen and a pet goes missing. Animal shelters and vet clinics scan pets for microchips and then call their owners. To find out more, call (888) spca-LA1.
