The fourth annual Animal Acres Compassionate Cuisine food and music event, a celebration which raises funding for animal rescue and refuge efforts, took place last Friday evening at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach.
More than 20 local restaurants served a wide variety of vegan food, beverages and desserts, such as quiche, fruit cobblers and hot chocolate.
Cooking demos, vendors and an array of useful information introduced visitors to the world of vegetarianism. With live music by the pop duo Makena and the Irvine Young Concert Artists, the event was complemented by the glow of the lit gardens.
