I am writing to the citizens of Signal Hill in apology for losing proper decorum at [Tuesday] night’s Council meeting. A resident of the Hill chose, during open public comment on item 8.a. (“View-blocking trees” ) to criticize me for a past “conversation” with his family and a neighbor on the subject and my walking visit to their neighborhood. I was asked to recuse myself on the item. I did not.
This “conversation” occurred in September and referenced a Sept. 15 email to the neighborhood by a family member. The email was, and still is, very upsetting to me. It derogatively referenced a city employee, who I have the highest respect for and admiration of. I will defend this employee or any employee of the City who is “libeled” in this way.
