Louise Cunningham has been named development director for Comprehensive Child Development, Inc. of Long Beach (CCD). An active community volunteer in Signal Hill, Cunningham is the president of the Friends of the Signal Hill Cultural Arts and also serves as vice chair for the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission.
“It’s a lot of plates to juggle but it’s a nice place to work with and the kids are great,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham has a background in fundraising, event planning and donor cultivation experience that ranges over 12 years. This includes management positions at Arc of Southeast Los Angeles County as well as the Long Beach Museum of Art.
“I am excited about the opportunity to help such an organization that provides childcare so parents can let their children go to school and they can keep working,” said Cunningham.
CCD, founded in 1984, is a private nonprofit organization providing preschool education for children of low-income working parents. With locations in Long Beach, San Pedro, Wilmington and an extended network of licensed family childcare providers, CCD provides a nurturing environment for over 600 children.
Cunningham will begin developing plans for involving members of the community, businesses and foundations in the support of the organization.
