Nearly 150 dogs from Long Beach Animal Care Services, as well as other displaced pets from various Los Angeles County shelters, departed from Long Beach Airport via the private aircraft services company FliteServ on Wednesday morning, headed for the Pacific Northwest, where there is high demand for breeds that are abundant in Southern California. Long Beach Animal Care Services worked in conjunction with other organizations, including Wings of Rescue, the Bark Avenue Foundation and flymehome.org, that work to reduce abandoned animal populations.
