Woman stabbed in Long Beach

A woman was seriously wounded when she was stabbed in the chest in Long Beach, police said Sunday.

The stabbing happened at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The unidentified woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of her wounds, police said. Her condition was not immediately known.

Her attacker fled the scene and police have no description of the suspect. A motive for the stabbing was unknown.
