As a part of their “Artist of the Quarter” program, Friends of Signal Hill Cultural Arts (FOSHCA) is featuring a new artist who is displaying her work in the Signal Hill Library, located at 1770 East Hill Street, from now until the end of the year.
Kelly Caves is a local photographer who has traveled widely and utilized her “catch the moment” works to reflect photo ops from South Africa, Botswana, Cuba, and Ireland in addition to New Mexico, Long Beach and other locations in the United States.
She has attended workshops in Santa Fe and New Mexico, the National George and Julie Dean Workshops in California and has studied locally under well-known photographer Linda Morrow.
Among other awards she has won are a first recognition and honorable mention in the international “Women in Photography” competition in 2006 and an honorable mention in the same international competition in 2007.
In addition to her work in the library, earlier this month she displayed her work at FOSHCA’s “Show and Sell,” one of the organization’s many events.
