Live music lovers can enjoy performances from local jazz artists at the 14th annual Uptown Jazz Festival on Aug. 2 at Houghton Park. This annual festival is presented by the City of Long Beach and Office of Ninth District Councilmember Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie.

“What started as a local celebration in North Long Beach, has grown into one of our city’s most cherished summer traditions,” said Mayor Rex Richardson in a public statement. “The Uptown Jazz Festival brings our community together to enjoy world-class music, local flavor, and the spirit of unity that makes Long Beach so special.”

This year’s edition will feature a spirited lineup of family-friendly music and entertainment. The event will also include food and beverage options available for purchase, a Kids Zone and a range of vendor and community resource booths.

“The Uptown Jazz Festival is a highly anticipated annual event that brings our community together in celebration of music, culture and unity,” said Dr. Ricks-Oddie in a public statement. “This free event welcomes thousands annually with celebrated musical artists who bring a sound for every generation and I’m proud to host it once again in the heart of North Long Beach, where families, neighbors and visitors alike can enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, delicious food, local vendors and community at this all day festival. I look forward to seeing everyone at Houghton Park for an unforgettable day that truly reflects the spirit and diversity of our district.

The 14th Annual Uptown Jazz Festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 2 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.) More information about this year’s festival will be shared closer to the event date on longbeach.gov/uptownjazzfest.
