Local boxer becomes national champ

“This tournament started three months ago and Mo had to defeat a total of nine opponents in order to be declared the 70-pound National Silver Gloves Champion,” said his father and coach Rudy Orozco.
He explained that 11-year-old Mo first had to fight his way to the state championship and defeat several other western state regional champions before going to Independence. There, he defeated two more opponents before advancing to the championship bout with Christian Bermudez of New York, whom he also defeated.
Mighty Mo lives in Long Beach and hopes to represent the USA in the 2016 Olympics.
