Dozens of area business owners and residents gathered last Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Petroleum Club for the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association’s (BKBIA) annual meeting and member mixer. President of the organization Thor Carlson welcomed those in attendance, introduced the new executive director Blair Cohn, as well as bade farewell and gave kudos to Susan Cooper, the outgoing executive director. Cooper was unable to attend the event.
During Carlson’s report to members, he presented a slide show depicting both a 2007 review and 2008 outlook of past events and future goals for the BKBIA.
Plans for a juried art show, Health and Wellness Fair, more tree plantings, mixers and workshops are scheduled. Snow in Bixby Knolls will remain on the calendar, according to Carlson, although the June street fair will be eliminated to make way for an expanded summer Dragster Expo and Car Show. Last year’s car show raised enough money to allow the BKBIA to donate $5,000 in proceeds to the Special Olympics.
