Limited space is still available for “Rancho Summer Adventures,” an engaging and educational program for children on summer vacation. Participants will learn about life in Old California through historic crafts, hands-on activities, games and stories. Historically themed programming will focus on daily life at the ranch. Some of the topics they will explore are the skills of a blacksmith, the kinds of plants that were grown, how they were used, what the rancho children did for fun, and the kinds of structures that were built with adobe and how. Participants will churn butter, dip candles, punch tin, tool leather, stomp adobe, celebrate a fiesta, and much more.
Participants may choose from one of the following sessions: July 28 – August 1, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – noon; or July 28 – August 1, Monday-Friday, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.
The program takes place at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site, 4600 Virginia Road (one block west of Long Beach Boulevard at San Antonio Drive).
