Imagine that you have no electricity, gas, water, or telephone service and all local businesses are closed, and the fire and police departments are unable to respond. What will you do until help arrives? What if you are stuck on the freeway or must stay at work. Are you and your family prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 3 days?
Right now is the time to act. Yes, you’ve thought it would be a good idea to get prepared but then the phone rings, or someone asks a question and the thought of being prepared is lost until the next time. One would hope the next time isn’t when a disaster strikes.
The City of Signal Hill is offering for sale an emergency kit to begin the process of being prepared. A basic one-person 72-hour emergency survival kit is $50, and a kit for two people is $70. These kits have equipment that will help you during a disaster: flashlight, radio, first aid kit, water, blanket, rain poncho, to name just a few of the essentials included.
Call (562) 989-7330 and the Community Service Department staff will send you all the information you need to purchase a kit and be on your way to being prepared for 72 hours of emergency supplies.
