“On your mark, get set, go!” will herald the competition and fun at the annual Children’s Fall Harvest Festival designed this year to highlight games and toys from around the globe. Lively entertainment, games and crafts are all free to the public, Sunday, October 26, noon to 4:30 p.m. at Rancho Los Alamitos, 6400 Bixby Hill Road.
Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens hosts this annual festival as a time for families and friends to explore the grounds of this historic award-winning destination and enjoy a day of play. The day’s activities include:
• The Jumbo Shrimp Circus- This group has spent the last decade performing comedy routines, stilt-walking, juggling, and unicycle rides around the world. They have performed at Disneyland, The Royal Palaces in Brunei, and in several television commercials and sitcoms including Frasier, Beakman’s World and Batman Forever. Joining Jumbo Shrimp Circus for lively performances are: the Jump Squad, Pamela from Hip-Hoop, Juggler Julien Heron and music man Tim Simpson.
• International Games- include hacky sack, marbles, jacks, otedama, hopscotch, jump rope, and Hula Hoop.
• Pumpkin Patch Blast Competitions- Enter Fall Harvest Festival themed races and relays.
• Game Pavilion- Children and adults can enjoy playing board games and table top activities.
• Costume Parade- Kids can join the costume parade and show off their Halloween disguises or come dressed in their favorite sports costume.
• Free crafts- Make a plaster casting of shells, craft a Jumping Jack O’Lantern, paper airplanes, paper dolls, sidewalk chalk art, and beautiful butterflies.
• Refreshments- The best hot dogs, corn on the cob, peanuts, ice cream and ice cold drinks- all at reasonable prices.
Admission and parking are free. Visitors should park at California State University, Long Beach, Lot 11 Sections B and C, on Palo Verde Avenue, where continuous handicap accessible shuttle service to the Rancho will operate during the Festival.
