Goodwill of Southern Los Angeles County recently named Charles Tucker, Laura Griffin Hanley and Matt Saldana as community leaders to its board of trustees.
Their combined expertise in the fields of information technology, healthcare and education is significant to continuing and growing Goodwill’s mission, which is to provide education, skill development and job opportunities for people with barriers to employment.
Charles Tucker brings to Goodwill 40 years of business experience as an IT executive, consultant, researcher, writer and an executive coach.
A principal in Tucker Consulting Group, LLC, an information technology (IT) management consulting practice focused on helping chief information officers and their leadership teams deliver greater value to their enterprises, Tucker holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from Santa Clara University.
Laura Griffin Hanley works in addiction medicine as a counselor, assistant department administrator and as labor management partnership trainer at Kaiser Permanente, South Bay.
Hanley has 20 years of experience as a therapist in a variety of healthcare environments, including acute care hospital, private practice and outpatient treatment settings. She is a board member for a $10-million privately held manufacturing company, and for multiple community organizations, including Community Helpline and St. Peter’s by the Sea Presbyterian Church.
Hanley also holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley and a master’s in Clinical Counseling from Cal State Hayward. She is also a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Matt Saldana is a principal of the regional occupational program/career technical education programs with the Long Beach Unified School District and has a long professional history with the district.
Saldana has been with LBUSD since 1985 as an industrial education teacher. He is a board member with Operation Jump Start and has previously been a member of the Lions Club of Avalon.
Saldana is already working with Goodwill through support of the certified nursing program (CNA) in the provision of CNA instruction and the state of California approved curriculum.
