A person reported to have been in the Coyote Creek flood control channel in the Los Alamitos area Thursday died at the scene.
Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and the Long Beach Fire Department were sent to the area near Cerritos Avenue shortly after 10 a.m., said OCFA Capt. Thanh Nguyen.
Information was not immediately available on the identity of the person, described only as a male of unknown age. The person reportedly was pulled from the flood control channel.
Firefighters, including a swiftwater rescue team, searched the flood control channel from Cerritos Avenue to the ocean, but found no other victims, Nguyen said.
