Public can sniff out deals at dog rescue group garage sale

As the old saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Besides the possibility of finding treasures at the Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California’s (BHRSC) 8th annual garage sale, shoppers’ dollars will go to help rescue Bassets, getting them medical care and to finding good homes for the hounds.
The sale will take place Saturday, July 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at 3870 Rose Avenue in Long Beach. Those who would like to donate items (anything other than adult clothing) may contact Carol at (562) 209-4971 or e-mail bassetsarefun@cs.com. Items will be accepted beginning Saturday, July 5. Donation and tax forms will be available.
Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California’s mission is to offer sanctuary, healing, and placement into a new family, to distressed, abandoned, injured, or homeless Basset Hounds. The organization works to raise funds to save as many hounds as possible and strives to constantly grow a network of volunteers and foster homes to provide as many options as possible for every hound in need. All of this for the love of the Basset Hound breed.
Each year the employees of The Boeing Company donate a portion of their earnings into an internal organization called the Employees Community Fund. Donations are granted to various charitable and needy organizations in their local communities throughout the year.
Last year, after receiving a grant proposal from BHRSC, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing California continued their generous spirit of giving with a grant of $4,000 to BHRSC. Since 2002, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing California has donated $14,500 to Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California, Inc.
