West Long Beach residents can fill out an online questionnaire to request a free tree be planted in their front yard.
The Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) has 100 trees to plant for residents, in partnership with the Westside Promise. The LBCT is a cargo company based in the Port of Long Beach with an emphasis on sustainable energy.
Interested residents must fill out an online form and provide their name, address, contact information and tree preference. Tree options include a Victorian Box, a Japanese Hackberry, a Chinese Elm or a Crape Myrtle.
People living in the 90810 zip code will receive priority. Tree planting will begin in September.
